WallScout (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website wallscout.io, the web application at app.wallscout.io, and the WallScout Chrome extension (collectively the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Service.
We are based in France, and we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for all users worldwide.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create a WallScout account, we collect your email address. We do not collect your name, phone number, or postal address unless you voluntarily provide them.
1.2 Payment Information
When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. We never see or store your credit card number. Stripe provides us only with a customer ID and subscription status. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy for details.
1.3 Product Analysis Data (Chrome Extension)
The WallScout Chrome extension collects:
- The Walmart product IDs of pages you choose to analyze (only when you click the “Analyze” button — we do not track your general browsing).
- Your watchlist of saved products (Walmart IDs you choose to bookmark within the extension or webapp).
- User preferences stored locally in your browser (e.g., your default fulfillment method FBM or WFS).
The extension does NOT collect your search history, the pages you visit, or any personal data outside of explicit product analysis actions.
1.4 Usage Analytics
We use the following analytics tools to understand how the Service is used and to improve it:
- Google Analytics 4 — Tracks anonymized page views and user journeys on our marketing site.
- Microsoft Clarity — Records anonymized session replays to help us improve UX. No personally identifiable information is captured.
- Reddit Pixel & Conversion API — Tracks conversions from advertising campaigns.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Authenticate your account and enforce plan limits (analyses per month)
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, payment receipts)
- Send product updates and feature announcements (you can opt out at any time)
- Improve the Service based on aggregated usage patterns
- Respond to support requests
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following service providers to operate the Service:
- Supabase (USA) — Database hosting and user authentication
- Vercel (USA) — Web application hosting
- Stripe (USA) — Payment processing
- Resend (USA) — Transactional email delivery
- Walmart product data providers — We aggregate publicly available Walmart marketplace listings to provide our sales estimates. No user personal data is shared with these providers; only Walmart product IDs are queried.
All providers are bound by their own privacy policies and security commitments. We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international data transfers where applicable.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on encrypted servers in the United States (Supabase US-East region). We use industry-standard security measures including:
- TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Row-Level Security (RLS) policies in our database
- Bcrypt password hashing
- Regular security audits
While we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we commit to notifying affected users within 72 hours of any confirmed data breach, as required by GDPR.
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable form
- Objection — Object to processing of your data for marketing purposes
- Withdraw consent — At any time, where consent is the legal basis
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@wallscout.io. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all personally identifiable information within 30 days. Some anonymized aggregate data (e.g., usage statistics) may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.
Backups retain data for up to 90 days after deletion before being permanently purged.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (session cookies) and optional analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may impact the functionality of the Service.
8. Chrome Extension Permissions
The WallScout Chrome extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab — To detect when you are on a Walmart product page and inject the analysis interface
- storage — To remember your preferences (fulfillment method FBM/WFS) and cache recent analyses
- Host permission for walmart.com — Required to add the WallScout overlay on Walmart product pages
The extension never reads or transmits content from pages other than Walmart product pages, and only when you explicitly click “Analyze”.
9. Children’s Privacy
WallScout is a B2B tool for marketplace sellers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email and by posting a notice on the Service. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
