A worked example

Take a frying pan in an 18.6 × 10.5 × 3 inch box weighing 3.7 lb. Its dimensional weight is 18.6 × 10.5 × 3 ÷ 139 = 4.21 lb, which is more than the unit weight. Add 0.25 lb of packaging to get 4.46 lb, then round up to 5 lb. The fee is $5.75 + $0.40 × (5 − 4) = $6.15, the same figure Walmart publishes for this item. Storage is 0.34 cubic feet × $0.75, about $0.25 per month.

Fees are only part of the picture

Knowing the WFS fee tells you what it costs to sell a unit. It doesn’t tell you whether the unit will sell. Put the fee into the Walmart profit calculator to see your margin, then check demand with the Walmart sales estimator before you send inventory in. Still deciding how to fulfill? Frequently asked questions

How much does WFS cost per unit?

The WFS fulfillment fee starts at $3.45 per unit for items with a shipping weight of 1 lb or less, then rises with weight: $4.95 at 2 lb, $5.45 at 3 lb, and $5.75 plus $0.40 per pound above 4 lb. Surcharges apply to apparel, hazmat, items under $10 and oversize items.

How does Walmart calculate WFS shipping weight?

For standard items of 1 lb or more, Walmart uses the greater of the unit weight and the dimensional weight (length × width × height in inches, divided by 139). It adds 0.25 lb for packaging and rounds up to the next whole pound. Items under 1 lb use the unit weight only. Big and bulky items use the unit weight rounded up.

What are WFS storage fees?

Storage is $0.75 per cubic foot per month from January to September. From October to December, units stored longer than 30 days pay $2.25 per cubic foot. Since June 30, 2026, inventory older than 365 days pays $2.25 per cubic foot, and older than 450 days $7.50.

Does WFS have a monthly subscription?

No. WFS charges per unit fulfilled and per cubic foot stored. There is no monthly program fee, though optional services such as prep, labeling and inventory transfer are billed separately.

Is WFS cheaper than Amazon FBA?

For many small and light items WFS fees are similar to or lower than FBA, and Walmart has no monthly seller subscription. The answer changes by product size and category, so compare the fees for each item rather than across your whole catalog.

Why is the fee for a 31 lb item lower than for a 30 lb item?

That is how Walmart's published schedule reads: the 21 to 30 lb bracket starts at $15.55 and the 31 to 50 lb bracket at $14.55. The calculator follows the schedule exactly, and it matches Walmart's own example of a 31 lb vacuum at $14.55.
